After spending time together as a family in England, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner took their three kids to Paris to show them some iconic sights in the City of Light.

Affleck, who is currently filming Justice League in London, arrived in the French capital on Thursday with Garner and their kids: Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4. That same day, the family indulged in some sweet treats at the Amorino ice cream parlor.

“They are so excited for this opportunity for the kids,” a family friend tells PEOPLE. “He is shooting over there and they will likely come back and forth. He similarly brought the kids to the set during Miracles From Heaven. This is normal for them.”

Affleck was not spotted with the rest of his family on Friday as Garner took the children to the Roue de Paris and held Samuel in her arms while waiting in line for the renowned Ferris wheel. From there, she and the kids went on a tour of the Place de L’Opéra, where Garner took photos on her cellphone as a hired guide talked through the history of the famed opera house.

The Miracles from Heaven star and and the kids continued to Montmartre, where the doting mother took selfies with her two daughters and ended up throwing a tired Seraphina across her back as they continued up the last flight of stairs leading to Sacré-Cœur Basilica.

Later, Garner and the kids visited the Jardin du Luxembourg, a sumptuous garden dating back to the 17th century, where the kids were spotted having fun while operating sailboats around a fountain.

Before arriving in Paris on Thursday, the family spent time in London, with a Twitter user posting that the family was spotted on the Harry Potter tour at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

“They are enjoying showing the kids London,” a source close to the family told PEOPLE.

Since announcing their split in June, both Affleck, 43, and Garner, 44, have stressed that they are focused on their children, and have not yet filed for divorce.

“We’re doing our very best and we’re putting our kids first and that’s how we’re focusing on our day-to-day lives,” Affleck said on CBS This Morning in March. “We don’t know what the future’s going to hold, but each step that we take is one where we prioritize our children and everything else comes second.”

Garner and Affleck have made of point of spending time together with the kids since the split, spending major holidays including Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas as a family.

When it comes to celebrating holidays, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner make sure to put family first.

The former couple reunited on Sunday to spend Easter with their three children, Violet 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4.

“Affleck and Garner spent Easter Sunday with their kids,” a source tells PEOPLE.

The family started their day by attending a morning church service together in Los Angeles.

Affleck and Garner, both 43, appeared relaxed as they walked up to church together, each holding on to one of their daughter Seraphina’s hands while Affleck carried Samuel in his other arm.

To keep the celebration going, Affleck – who is coming off of Batman v Superman’s record-shattering $170 million domestic opening – and Garner held an Easter egg hunt at their house with friends, says the source.

The holiday get-together comes after the family spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas together, and even went on a vacation over Valentine’s day weekend. The actor also recently said they’re planning a family vacation in Europe, where he’ll be filming Justice League this spring.

Since announcing their split in June, both Affleck and Garner have stressed that they are moving forward by simply focusing on their children.

“We’re doing our very best and we’re putting our kids first and that’s how we’re focusing on our day-to-day lives,” said Affleck. “We don’t know what the future’s going to hold, but each step that we take is one where we prioritize our children and everything else comes second.”

With two new movies due for release this year, expect to see a lot more of Jennifer Garner in the coming months.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, actress and mother-of-three Jennifer Garner has opened up about life post-Ben Affleck, acting again and hidden talents.

1. Garner can play the saxophone and to this day still doesn’t know how she lost her childhood saxophone, which she called “Sally the sexy saxophone.”

2. When Garner can’t sleep, the actress turns to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler…
“When I can’t sleep—and I am not someone who typically has that problem, but I really have in the last year—and I need something to switch my brain off, it has been Tina Fey and Amy Poehler,” Garner says. “God bless those girls. I used to think I would never watch television on my phone, but there I am.”

3. Garner isn’t a fan of (and refuses to take responsibility for) Affleck’s new tattoo – a phoenix rising from the ashes…
“You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart.’ A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.”

4. Despite the breakdown of her marriage to Affleck, Garner would do it all again…
“I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,” she says. “And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again [the pair eloped in to the Turks and Caicos in 2005]. You can’t have these three babies and so much of what we had. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy. I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”

5. She, like the rest of us, gets insecure at times…
“When you haven’t been kissed for over eight months,” she says, “it’s strange. But it’s my job. It’s nine in the morning and you think, I could really use a shot of alcohol. Then, after a take or two, after everyone has seen your boobs and love handles, you just want to take every crew member and be like, ‘Please have mercy on me!’”

The silent center of a tabloid hurricane, Jennifer Garner is finally speaking out. With the lead in this month’s Miracles from Heaven, she talks about breaking up with Ben Affleck, dealing with the pain, and keeping her kids and career in focus.

In an unassuming Italian restaurant in Santa Monica, I wait for Jennifer Garner. You’ve seen thousands of photographs of her: jeans, sweater, thick chestnut locks swept up in a ponytail—the definition of what it is to be California casual. This native West Virginian’s relaxed, unpretentious style has made her arguably one of the most respected public mothers in America and still a draw at the box office.

Her walk is brisk and to the point as she joins me at a table in the back. She lives up to expectations—flawless skin, no makeup, big smile. This is one of her favorite places; the busboy even asks how the children are. The reason she was a few minutes late: “I didn’t think I was nervous, but then I realized I was at the wrong restaurant.”

It’s been a “year of wine,” as the 43-year-old actress describes it, laughing. Late last June, after their children (Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Sam, 4) were finished with the school year, Garner and her husband, Ben Affleck, announced their plan to divorce one day after their 10th anniversary—an eternity for most Hollywood marriages. A month later, plastered over the tabloids and gossip sites, came reports that Affleck was having an affair with the family nanny, 28-year-old Christine Ouzounian, something his camp adamantly denies. It’s a mother and wife’s nightmare. (After a few inappropriate Instagram moments, the nanny has since dissolved into the background.)

“When I can’t sleep—and I am not someone who typically has that problem, but I really have in the last year—and I need something to switch my brain off, it has been Tina Fey and Amy Poehler,” Garner says. “God bless those girls. I used to think I would never watch television on my phone, but there I am, because I am sleeping next to my daughter.” Garner tells me she and Violet have become temporary roommates. “I’m happy to have her; she’s happy to have me.”

We live in a visual world, where a picture paints a thousand words. Millions of people had grown accustomed to seeing photos of this family to the point where we felt we knew them and their daily routines: getting coffee, going to the farmers’ market, working out, dropping the kids off at school. The combination of the two movie stars and their perfect family was both tabloid gold and aspirational ideal. After all, Garner and Affleck were a glamorous version of normal that almost defied believability. “It was a real marriage,” Garner tells me. “It wasn’t for the cameras. And it was a huge priority for me to stay in it. And that did not work.”

Now to end on what the gossip pages call “nannygate”—it’s all so unsavory and such a cliché. “Let me just tell you something,” Garner says. “We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.” Months later, she’s still assessing the damage. “I have had to have conversations about the meaning of ‘scandal,’ ” she says, with her children.

Jennifer Garner is opening up about her faith and family following the premiere of her new film, Miracles from Heaven.

The 43-year-old actress stunned on the red carpet, wearing a sleeveless, little black dress to premiere in Dallas, Texas Sunday night. After the screening, she joined the film’s producers DeVon Franklin and Bishop T.D Jakes for an audience Q&A.

In the upcoming drama, Garner plays a mother whose faith is restored when her daughter is cured from a severe digestive disorder after falling 30 feet inside a hollow tree. The movie is based on the real-life saga of Texas mom Christy Beam, who joined Garner on Monday for a Good Morning Texas appearance in Dallas.

Jennifer Garner has found a new rhythm in her life as a single mom.

The actress, who just left to spend a week in the mountains of Montana with Ben Affleck, their three children and a group of friends, is still putting her children first but she’s now ready to move on from her 10-year marriage to the actor. “She seems much more relaxed and is enjoying life,” a family source tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story. “It’s great to see her happy again.”

Though the actor initially lived in the guesthouse on the family’s L.A. estate for the sake of their kids, Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 3, the situation was stressful for both Garner and Affleck. “The kids love when Ben is home and that’s why Jen let him stay at the family house,” says another insider. “She never wanted them to be disappointed that Ben wasn’t there. But it was emotionally draining for her.”
